It starts from Pietralunga, more exactly from Piazza VII May, go along via Guglielmo Marconi to the crossroads where you turn right and then immediately left following the direction for Città di Castello. You continue along the county road SP 106 up to the intersection where you follow the direction “Zona Turistica Candeleto”. After a short uphill stretch you are in via dei Platani, turn right into via delle Querce. You continue to go uphill and after you pass by the pine forest of Coldefiore, as soon as the road begins to descend, at the crossroads, take the opposite dirt road that steeply climbs for about 1 km, until you get to the top of Monte Croce (735 m). In alternative you can take the path CAI 115 with direction Monte Croce.
Here the road becomes flat and winds along a scenic ridge, the view is breathtaking and you can admire the Carpina Valley on the right and the Carpinella on the left. Continue along the gravel road which corresponds to the path leading to the CAI trail 115 ending at Tre Ponti. At the second fork on the left you turn towards the farmhouse “Le Valcelle”; here the road begins to descend and after a few metres you can see the farmhouse on the right. Then you continue straight on and downhill until you reach the intersection with the county road SP 201. Here you turn left in the direction of Pietralunga and continue along the county road SP 201 until you take a road on the right, before a second bridge, showing the sign Sant’Anna. It is a paved road but full of potholes and quite challenging with a slope ranging from 15 to 22 % for about 1, 5 Km. At the fork turn left, then left again at the intersection with the county road SP 204, towards Pietralunga.
You continue along the county road SP 204 for about 2.8 km, as far as the junction with the county road SP 205. Along this stretch of paved road you can admire a splendid panorama on the right, framed by two peaks, Monte Nerone to the North and Monte Catria further East. At the crossroads, divided by the central “ pinetina” (small pinewood) that hosts the statue of Saint Ubaldo, you follow the signs for the farmhouse “San Benedetto”. After about 900 m you take the deviation to the left, an uphill path, where there are also signs for “Francesco’s Way” . Now you start an uphill path, with a maximum slope of 18%, but well worth taking since from here you can admire the village of Pietralunga from above. You are at about 700 m. a.s.l. After your hard climbing, you arrive at the farmhouse San Benedetto, here you continue straight on the dirt road along the walls (the farmhouse is on the left). You go downhill along the dirt path, at times bumpy; after 250 m you meet a gravel road at the border between Perugia and Gubbio, you continue to the left to reach the highest point of the itinerary (832 m), locally called Passo del Cardinale. After 2,3 km you arrive at Casa Renzini” and on the left side of a U-shaped turn you can see signs of the CAI indicating the place and the trail “ Gli Anelli del Lupo ( The Wolf’s Rings); more specifically the trail 120 A-“ l’Anello dei Monti del Vento” ( The Ring of the Wind Mountains”.
From here follow the red/white arrow signs, both directions are possible, both lead to Collelungo, that is at the intersection with the trail 120, known as the “ Anello di Varrea”. If you turn left towards Collelungo you can see the ruins of casa Renzini, going up an down in the State-owned pastureland. Pay attention to the small gates that can be found along the way and to the various ditches characterizing the rich vegetation of humid brackens. If you continue, for other 900 m, along the main road, towards “Passo del Cardinale”, the paved road ends and a dirt track begins, you will then leave it after a few metres to take a path which turns left at the edge of the pine forest. Pay attention to the signs. You can enjoy another panoramic view after the ups and downs along the sandstone path: Monte Nerone and Monte Catria to the left close a sequence of smaller mountains.
You continue downhill among rolling stones, and then going up again, along a path surrounded by state-owned milestones, on your right you meet a sequence of vast grasslands wedging into the woods. After crossing a barrier for grazing animals, keeping left you reach the already known fork of the “ Anello dle Lupo”. Here you turn left if you come from Casa Renzini or continue straight on if you come from “Passo del Cardinale” , however, you have to follow the direction Molino Chicchioni, immediately after the intersection you see what remains of the Casale di Collelungo then you enter a dense pine forest and continue descending in the shade of an oak grove. You will come to a series of buildings, that are part of “Molino Chicchioni”, once seat of the Hunting and Wildlife Company and, still earlier, seat of an old water mill. With the buildings on your left take the dirt road and after a few metres you are on the municipal road of Salceto Lame, you then turn left in the direction of Pietralunga. At the fork continue to follow the signs for the town centre and going along via Roma throughout its length you are back at the departure point.

    

You start from Pietralunga, more exactly from Piazza VII May, go along via Roma for its entire length as far as the crossroads, where you turn right and continue along via Falani, at the roundabout, take the third exit towards Umbertide. Soon after the Sanctuary of “ Madonna dei Rimedi” (Our Lady of the Remedies) on the right, you turn left in the direction of Gubbio. The road climbs with a hard slope for 2 km, you climb up until you come to a crossroads, there you turn right in the direction of Gubbio; after about 1,2 km you turn right again and take a dirt road, in the direction of “San Faustino Resort”; here you take the path along the ridge that divides the Gubbio and Pietralunga municipalities.
The road is flat and in good conditions, you continue straight on, shortly after you can admire the Gubbio Valley on the left and notice the first isolated building on the right. After 4 km you start climbing and at the first fork you turn right, always following the direction of San Faustino. Immediately after on the right you will notice a stone with the inscription Santa Certa (do not turn right) always continue straight on. After about 2 km the road becomes paved in some sections, on the left you can see a farm. Sooner or later, either before or after the building , you will see splendid Umbrian Chianina cows grazing. After about another 2 km (8 km from the junction with the unpaved road) you meet a crossroads, turn right. Along the way, on the left, you will notice a small building painted white; you then take the dirt road that descends, and after about 1.3 km from the crossroads, you will find yourself opposite the beautiful Resort of San Faustino. At the forefront of the resort on the right you can see the pool. If you are not tired and feel like continuing along a longer trail you can take the dirt road that climbs, and pass between the parking lot and the Resort. Alternatively, at the fork, before the Resort, you can follow the white-red arrow CAI signs indicating the path 116 on the right and you reach the locality Carpini. From there you can resume the county road SP 201 to return to Pietralunga.
(See part of the description of the trekking itinerary on foot Carpini –Tre Ponti-San Faustino in the last part “ After passing the Abbey…..”). If you, instead, follow the white-red arrow CAI signs heading left, after a few metres uphill, you will see the Casanuova building on the right; then you continue on the unpaved road until it ends. At this point you have two possibilities: the first is by going down the path CAI 116, but beware, there are a series of gates that must be carefully closed after passing since there are Chianina cows grazing. However, this is the right direction for those who like biking along dirt paths and gravelled roads (Please check the description of the trekking itinerary on foot: Carpini-Tre Ponti-San Faustino in the initial part. Remember that you will follow it in the opposite direction). As a second possibility, you can choose a longer trekking route, you turn left before the small gate and take a dirt road; then you continuing in that direction you reach the farmhouse “Ginestra”. Here the county road SP 203 begins, a beautiful ridge road from where you can admire, on the right, the charming village of Montone, and on the left the Valley towards the stream Assino. You continue straight on and turn right at the next fork, the road descends and after 1 km from the fork it becomes unpaved and a tough climb of about 300m begins until you reach the intersection with the paved road. Here you turn right again, while admiring Montone on the left, after about 1.8 Km, you turn left and continue along the paved road to the junction with the county road SP 201, from here you will follow the direction of Pietralunga. At this point if you are tired you continue along the main road; on the other hand, if you feel like continuing to enjoy the unspoilt nature of the Carpina Valley you turn left at the first intersection and follow the direction “Osservatorio Astronomico”. Soon after the bridge you continue on the right and from here you proceed straight on along the road bordering the stream Carpina, towards Pietralunga. The road is unpaved with slight ups and downs until you reach the fork at “Caigisti”, after passing the “Il Pioppo”, the countryhouse there, you turn right always in the direction of Pietralunga.

    

You start from Pietralunga, more exactly from Piazza VII May, go along via Roma for the whole length as far as the crossroads where you take the municipal road to Salceto Lame, with a good road surface in spite of being a bit narrow. After about 3 km from the crossroads, on the left side of the curve there is an intersection with a dirt uphill road, after turning you follow the sign in the direction of San Pietro. After 300 m you come to a fork where you turn right and go straight on, you follow the directions of the CAI path 120 and immediately after you take the path 119 b in the direction of Monte Castellaccio. You go through a thick pine forest until you come to a grassland that offers a great panoramic view on Monte Nerone to the right and of the Carpina Valley to the left.
At the intersection with the unpaved road you continue on the left towards “ Vocabolo Caimoni”, ruins of the imposing building, that give the name to the place. It can be seen from the next bend on the right. The route continues to climb until you reach the intersection with another unpaved road, here you continue to the right. From here the road becomes narrower, the view on the Umbria-Marche Apennines broadens and after about 800 you see the beautiful private countryhouse of Castelvecchio. You continue straight on, the building is on your right, you start going downhill and you find yourself opposite another farmhouse. You continue straight on after other 800 m from you come to a junction where you turn right starting to descend again. From here the road is at times damaged and uneven.
You continue along the main road that becomes paved, you meet the first group of buildings called Casaricca and, soon after, you meet another built up area called Loretuccio until you reach the hamlet of Caicivitella.
Soon after you proceed left in the direction of Morena, you start descending and then you climb up to the bridge
Here you enter the territory of the municipality of Gubbio, more precisely you cross the hamlet of Morena, where the paved road ends and becomes gravelled at the height of the last building. You continue straight to the fork, on the left you see the House “ Gran Noce” and continue keeping right. Beware, as in this section of road there may be unleashed dogs guarding the grasslands, the area is fenced off with warning signs prominently displayed. You continue straight on the main road climbing up to 800 m a.s.l, then you go downhill, from there, on the left, you will see many scattered buildings and small built up areas throughout the countryside, with Monte Catria in the background. You continue keeping right at the next two crossroads, then you come to an intersection, before a built up area of “Salia” on the left.
From here you take a narrower road that goes up, you continue straight even if immediately after you see two dirt roads on the right. In this section of about 2 km you cross a dense forest, this stretch is cool and shady. From 710 m a.s.l you get to 820 m and, shortly after passing the peak of this stretch of the route, the road overlaps with “ Franceco’s way”. You can notice the first yellow-blue route signs on the left side of the road, along the first u-bend you meet while going down. You proceed downhill in the opposite direction of the arrows, along the dirt road while you can Monte Nerone on the right and enjoy the beautiful view of the imposing Castle of San Benedetto Vecchio opposite you.
There is a small artificial lake on the left, soon after the road winds between two ruins, it continues to go down and at times is a bit uneven owing to the water crossings. Then you arrive at an intersection with county road SP 205, where you turn right towards San Benedetto Vecchio; you starts climbing up to the fork with the county road SP 204.
Once you arrive at the “pinetina” (small wood), that acts as a traffic island, turn right in direction of Pietralunga, the you descend along the hairpin bends of the Palazzetto to the junction, where you turn left and take via Roma to return to the departure point

A trekking itinerary that winds through forests along ancient roads. You start from the houses at San Salvatore and go along the county road SP106, called Baucca in the direction of Città di Castello. Then, after 800 metres, you turn right and, after about one kilometre, you reach the departure point, the farmhouse “La Cerqua” (645 m). After parking the car, take the road that climbs, leaving the Farmhouse to the right.
After passing the first house you move on a ridge: on the horizon you can see Monte Nerone, recognizable by antennas on top of it and on the other side the Carpina Valley. You will walk past the ruins of an old house, near a water supply tank; here the road descends slightly and then immediately goes up. On the right you can see a fenced plantation of truffle-generation plants at Caiburroni.
After passing it and meeting a fork, take the path climbing on the left: soon on the right you will see San Felice, an unsafe small country church.
From the fork the itinerary continues along the path that opens to the left among downy oaks and junipers. As you ascend, the road stones underfoot become more regular until they form a beautiful paved road from the Roman period; once it connected the site of Forum Iulii Concupiense, in the Carpina Valley, to the consular Flaminia road. When the road surface becomes unpaved again you reach a crossroads, on the left just a little bit further up, you can see the tip of Mount Macinare, site of a pre-Roman fortified settlement.After passing a shrine, the road climbs in the shade of a thick pine forest. You are advised not to leave the main road, along which you climb up on the left to reach the very panoramic top of Monte Castellaccio (839 m), a name that indicates the location of the Castle once ruined and then disappeared from Castelfranco.
After retracing the main path, in a few steps you reach the main road for Apecchio with limited traffic. Keeping left, you gaze upon the newly born Carpina Valley. A few hundred metres further on there is the isolated hamlet of Castelfranco and nearby the 16th century Church dedicated to our Lady of Grace.
The route continues along a dirt road that leaves the Church on the right; the slope of Monte Castellaccio, so far hidden to your eyes, is now in full view revealing a thick beech forest; at the fork keep left along the headwaters of the Carpina river. The road verges on the Farm Pian del Pozzo and, further on, it joins another road coming from above; proceeding to the left, you cross the stream over a bridge. At this point you go past Cailuca and you turn left just before House Maccheroni, site of an old mill. Then you cross the stream again over a bridge and, once you reach the valley floor, you climb up on the other side.
At the next fork in the road, in the Colprejano place (609m), you turn right. Here there are remains of a Roman country villa with spas embedded in the ground: traces of mosaic floor and a travertine column trunk are still there.
Further on you reach the place where you left the car.

The trail is suitable for everyone and especially for families with children for the places visited, the shade of extensive pinewoods and the presence of the interesting Ornithological Museum. The trail is marked by blue-white signs. The departure point (602m) is outside the seat of the State Forestry Corps in Candeleto (C.F.S) that you reach by taking the county road SP201 along the river Carpinella in the direction of Pietralunga, turning left just before reaching the village. Then you follow the signs indicating the Ornithological Museum and C.F.S. Station, where it is possible to park.
You leave the museum on your right and take the gravel path, between conifer woods, running alongside the Candeleto campsite until you reach an intersection with a paved road, here you take the dirt path on your left inside the wood. Follow the red and white signs indicating the direction to Bocca Serriola.
The undergrowth is mostly covered with ferns. Once you reach a fork in the path, following the white-blue sign, keep left and you arrive at Monte Croce, between the pine forest and a colony of Oaks.
The top of Monte Croce (711 m), although occupied by a TV relay station, offers a panoramic view on the Carpina Valley. The nature trail continues parallel to gravel road, showing again the signpost for Bocca Serriola, until it changes direction when it begins to descend. After reaching a well signposted intersection in the trail, you turn left and enter a more mature forest until you reach the lowest point where you cross a ditch. Then the trail slightly takes you up again and in a few minutes it leads to the gravel road of Caipizzichelli that you take on the left.
At the height of a small fountain an educational trail begins. It is signposted with white an green signs , there small boards give the name of its trees.
After completing the Percorso Flora ( Flora Trail) you go back to a three road intersection from where you continue on the right walking past the former sawmill of the Mountain Community and past a stone building, until you are back at the departure point.

The excursion starts from Pieve de’ Saddi; place of the cult of St. Crescenziano, first evangelizer in the Upper Tiber Valley and through the beautiful Carpina Valley. The Church was erected where San Crescenziano’s legendary martyrdom took place, it was documented in the 11th century. The Church, that preserves the saint’s relics, is located at about 10 km from Pietralunga, it can be reached from the main road 201, near the stadium, where you take the county road SP 106 to Città di Castello, at the crossroads turn left and then take the small road on the right following the signs for Pieve de’ Saddi. After about 4 Km you cross a bridge over the river Carpina and turn right. You continue straight on for about 6 km heading for the imposing solitary Pieve de’ Saddi on your right. After leaving the Church behind you, you cross the main road and take the route 111, you continue for 600 metres until you reach a fork; here turn right, until reaching a second fork where you continue to keep right. A Turkey oak appears before an uncultivated field, lower down you will notice the glittering dome of the Observatory of Coloti. The path continues along another field with a big oak tree in the centre, that you will pass while keeping the right side at the edge of the forest, which you will cross at the point marked with the white-red sign. You then go down a ravine to the ditch of Casaprete placed underneath. You keep walking alongside the stream, wade through it and continue along a small rocky gorge. You l then climb up through a mixed wood with hornbeams and manna-ashes and go on trekking along a section of trail where the marlstones emerges. Once out of the wood you see a sequence of small mountains crossed by many streams at their foot. Then you run along the right side of the next field until you reach a track rising straight up. You then come to the long ruin of Caimoroni (599m), from where in the background it is possible to see the outline of Rocca d’Aries, framed by mountains, among which Monte Acuto stands out. On a nearby hillock the imposing ruins of Casa Savignano can be seen.
The trail passes near the great run down almond tree at the edge of the Caimoroni building and continues along a farm road. Once at the fork ignore the way uphill and continue on the left; along the way you meet a fountain, go past it and follow the straight path that avoids the house and leads to a large crossroads. Here you leave the trail 111 that continues to Montone, you can in the background, and you take the 14 to the left, in the direction of Coloti. Behind high conifers Pieve de’ Saddi can be seen again. At the next fork follow the road uphill as indicated by the signs, and then get close to the fence preceding the ruins of the Casa Spirineo.
Only a bit lower down there is the Borgo di Coloti (Coloti hamlet) that can be visited with a deviation of 250 m. With the hamlet at your back, take the path, lined by pine trees, that opens in front of you.
After about 200m you turn right, the way back is on the left. The marlstone path runs in the shade of a mixed forest; it follows a trickle for a few metres and then you cross it; the trail continues less marked, you ignore a road that rises to the left and continue straight on and come to a fork: here you take the road uphill signposted as trail 111C. You cross another small ditch, a bit lower down all ditches converge on the roaring Rio Sansa, a tributary of the river Carpina. At the next fork , take the road to the right that descends slightly, in the short stretches where the ancient road is no longer readable, continue alongside the forest until you reach and cross the main stream. At this point you leave a chopped marlstone hillock on the right, it is advisable to keep left at the edge of a ravine where you can discover a simple artifact containing San Crescenziano spring water emerging from underground, with a peculiar sulphurous smell, in the centre of the confluence of three streams. According to the legend, the cave of the dragon killed by the Saint was located here. You leave the source on the left and going up along the trail you enter a forest of oaks and reach a clearing: the country road is now easier to go and you continue on it until you arrive at the back of the cottage that is located right in front of the Church.

The proposed itinerary takes place in the woods of Pietralunga and consists of the paths 120 and 120A. From the main square of Pietralunga you drive along via Roma as far as the fork for Salceto Lame, here you turn left and driving along the Salceto Lame municipal road until the Km 0.5. You can park your car in a clearing on the right close to the fork for Molino Chicchioni (along the same road you can reach Collelungo by car, where the intersection point of the two rings is).
You start trekking along the gavel road leading to what was once a mill. There you take a path, on the left of the mill, that runs through the riparian forest bordering the waters of Fosso Chicchioni. Along the way you come to the first of many moveable gates. You continue slightly uphill in the shade of an oak grove, while proceeding, the oaks give way to black pine reforestations. At the end of the pine forest in a panoramic position (720 m) you can see the what remains of the House Collelungo, now used as a shelter for cattle.
After three hundred meters you reach the intersection with the other ring, named “ Monti del Vento”; here the trail descends slightly through woods in terraces, supported by dry stonewalls. Along the path that descends there are ditches, that create a vegetation characterized by humid brackens. In the lowest points at the intersection with small brooks, there are drinking troughs. While climbing up you meet the ruins of House Renzini, then after continuing uphill you meet a small gate, passing which, you come out of the state-owned pastureland. Then a wider paved road opens on the municipal border between Pietralunga and Gubbio and reaches the highest point of the Rings of the Wolf (832 m altitude), locally called Passo del Cardinale.
The way run is left to take a path turning on the left at the edge of the pine forest. Pay attention to the road signs. After ups and downs along a sandstone path you will enjoy another panoramic view:: Monte Nerone and Monte Catria on the left close a sequence of smaller mountains.
You continue downhill between rolling stones, and you go up again along a path bounded by State-owned milestones. After crossing the barrier to protect the grazing animals, in a short time the road takes you back towards the fork for Collelungo, keeping left you reach the known intersection which closes one of the rings. Here, following the precise road signs, you go towards San Pietro by taking a path that runs almost parallel but lower down to the previous one. You continue on the first ring, you had left only for a short time. You then see again the sequence of wood varieties noted previously. The trail intersects with a paved road, the opposite entrance is at 50 metres lower down; the path through the woods ends up with a dirt road that you take on the left downhill. At the next crossroads you keep right to avoid the paved road, soon after you turn right again. The deviation suggested enters a small grove and comes out at the height of the House la Tagliata, that offers a view on the beech woods of Mount Macinare and on the tip of Castellaccio (see Castelfranco itinerary). You arrive behind the isolated Church of San Pietro which opens on the hills with abundant cultivations. In the distance and in the haze you can see the row of mountains.
You continue between the Church and the only house existing there, to take the trail heading to the main road and verging the Cai Petrignani ruins on the right. After 500 metres of paved road to the left you are back to the car.

The starting point is the small Church of San Donnino which can be reached from Pietralunga by taking the Baucca county road S.P. 106 as far as Cainardi (2 km) and then turning right towards Montemaggiore; the small church is located after approximately 5 km of winding road, at the fork to Caidominici ; here you park your car.
Opposite the Church you start walking along the footpath 112. In this section road signs need to be followed with special attention. You come across a gravel road that crosses the paved road; shortly downstream from here you take a path between two oak trees that invite you to go up. Once you complete the climb among gullies, you are back to the paved road that you run as far as the “ Madonna dei Cinque Faggi” (Our Lady of the five beech trees). Just before the small church, you are connected to a section of the “Sentiero Italia (SI)”, that you take to the left slightly downhill.
At a crossroads you find the unsafe building “Osteria delle Rote”. After the Osteria the “ Sentiero Italia” , that is well signposted, continues to climb to the top of Monte di Gragnano (770 metres).
The road continues among rocks carved by wind and water. In view of the farmhouse Prati, at the height of a hunting lodge, you leave the “ Sentiero Italia” to take the 108 trail again, that is on your left.
The route continues alongside a fence, on the right you see the “ Casella del Vescovo”, seat of a hunting company. At the fork you meet keep left, then you come close to another abandoned building (Casa Fontanelle).
You continue along a road among farm fields in the shade of downy oak trees.
After passing a bump you reach a wooded area and turn left leaving the main road, check the signs carefully. This new path, slightly hinted, winds through a grove of oak trees and invites you to walk until you come to a wide forest road leading down among evergreen conifers.
You reach the asphalted road that you run for a short distance, then you leave it to take a path that goes down to the left, highlighted by some wells on the side of the street; from here you cross a concrete platform over the stream Soara. You continue walking between the small river and the fence protecting a cultivation of truffle-growing trees. Then you see the sign of the path108 again close to an ancient ford, the path rises surrounded by an oak forest. You continue along the wood and at a fork take the right until you reach a large grassland. At a corner there are the ruins of the farmhouse Matrella.In this field keep left until you see the opposite path outlet. At the fork take the lower path, better marked by footsteps, then walk past the fences. You enter again an unpaved road that takes you close to Rapastello.
Past the farm, continuing on the paved road, in a short time you arrive at San Donnino and at the cars.
If you still have time and energy at the height of a pond you leave the main road and take a dirt track that descends among wide grasslands, extremely beautiful in spring. When you arrive at a fork, you keep the left and enter a grove until you reach a gravel road: here you leave the trail 108 and continue along the trail 112. From here you can enjoy beautiful view on the peaks of the Apennines.
Go along the gravel path to the right and in a few minutes, after a bump, you discover the ruins of the Church of S. Angelo di Fonteroccoli, today only ruined walls adorned with two mono-hole windows.
Retrace your steps and follow the path 112 in the other direction. You get to the paved road Cainardi-Rapastello, after a short walk to the right you are back to San Donnino.

It starts from the hamlet of Carpini, on the main road between Umbertide and Pietralunga.
You walk on the road that runs from the church to the cemetery. The road becomes gravelled, then you turn left at a bend, in proximity of the crossroads with a farmhouse.
A bit further up, you see the farmhouse part of the vast number of possessions of the Conte (Earl) Della Porta that stretched far beyond Rocca d’ Aries. Going up you enjoy a view over the Carpina Valley and over the opposite mountains that you partly go through. Along the stony path, there are two bars easily bypassable. Going uphill you cross the path 115 that you follow towards Montone, then you descend to the left at the crossroads. Further up on the right there is the rural church of the Madonna del Nespolo.  The trail, along the same route of the “ Ippovia Umbra” (Umbria Horse Trail), meets a wider road which continues straight along the ridge.  You ignore the path that descends to the left, and continue to the right around the knoll of Civitella and at the intersection you always continue along the trail 115. The descent is first accompanied by a forest of oaks and maples and then by a pine forest.  Going past a house, you come to a place called “Tre Ponti” at the confluence of the Carpina and Carpinella rivers. You use one of the bridges to cross the main road and continue along the road 116: a gravel track that climbs for 430 m up to the house “Campo della Fiora”. You continue along the fence and soon after, at a crossroads, you’d better keep left along a shaded path. After another intersection you continue to climb on the right and when you are about to go around the knoll you see the village of Montone. Then you meet a gravel road, keeping left in a few minutes you will reach the “ Madonna dei Confini”.
The trail stretches along a ridge between two valleys: the Carpinella, surrounded by Monte Gengarella, marked by the ruins of Castriciano and the Valley of the Rio San Faustino barred by the slopes of the mountain and by the Rancino; over the horizon you can see the ever-present Monte Nerone .
You go straight to a crossroads consisting of roads, small streets and paths; you run through what was once the farmyard of the Moravola family, then you arrive at a farm that you pass by carrying on along the edge of the wood to the right, always following the trail 116.
After passing a stream, you start climbing; when you reach a meadow, behind a nut tree you climb a steep slope with lots of openable gates that lead to the ruins of Casa Bazzucaglia (610 m). The path opens to a wider gravel road that you take on the left to reach the monastery of San Faustino in a short time.
After passing the Abbey you turn immediately left, thus entering into a vast pastureland. Here pay attention to the sign n.116 by walking along the fence that runs high; after an awkward passage through the fence netting, you walk along another field as far as a retractable gate from where you take a path descending to the left.
You pass a ditch and go up to a crossroads where you take a gravel path on the left, then you immediately turn right before arriving at the house Valbona.
Now the easy road stretches towards the valley verging on the “ Diavolaccio”, name given by peasants to the Cavagnetti locality.
Once in the valley, you cross a bridge, then at the fork to Monte Valentino, keeping left, you come to the main road. After four hundred metres on the left and you find your car.
